IN THE CLEAREST sign yet on where she stood on the issue of Charter change, President Macapagal-Arroyo yesterday gave the go-ahead to legislators to proceed with moves to amend the Constitution.

In a statement issued by Malacanang yesterday, the President said she did not pose any objections to Charter change.

"I leave Congress to pursue its own strategic horizons as it deems fit in the national interest," Ms Macapagal said.

"The presidency must be undistracted in its focus upon the most pressing concerns of our people," she said.

The President was earlier seen to be resisting the aggressive campaign by some congressional leaders to amend the Constitution, saying Congress had other priorities to take care of.
