FIVE persons died when two fires struck a village in an Albay city and another village in Cebu City.
In Tabaco City, four children were found dying under a bed of the house where they were trapped by fire in Purok 3, Barangay Sto. Cristo, Tuesday night.
Brothers Patrick, 10, Cedric, 5, Ryan, 3 and Oliver, 1, all surnamed Jardin, were found with signs of life under a bed inside a room in their house after the 30-minute fire.
In Cebu City, a person died while more than 200 houses were destroyed in a two-hour fire that hit the densely populated Barangay Ermita on Monday evening.
Cebu city fire marshal Supt. Esmael Codilla identified the fatality as Restituto Sorono, 70, who was trapped inside his house when the fire broke out at 7:28 p.m. Monday.
At least P7 million worth of property were destroyed in the fire, Codilla said.
