(From This Day (Nigeria) - AAGM)
Byline: Tajudeen Kareem
At a time like this, it is nothing but a cardinal sin to seat on the fence when gatekeepers and self-appointed public commentators assume the task of loving Kwara State more than we Kwarans.
Save for the era of one rapacious military administrator who came from the far North, Kwara has never witnessed such brazen display of greed, nepotism and lack of vision as epitomised by the outgoing Lawal Administration. Here is a state, blessed with a vibrant, well-trained corp of civil servants, once the pride of Northern Nigeria establishment. That service has, in four years of Lawal, become highly demoralised, disillusioned and stagnant. Here is a state, well endowed in solid mineral resources. In four years of Lawal, Kwara is yet to formulate, not to talk of implementing a policy on its solid minerals deposit.
Here is a state, naturally conducive for viable commercial agriculture especially plantation farming and live stock production. In four years, Lawal has no policy on how to tap these-potentials in providing employment and generating income for the state.
