Frederick Rickmann, design director MDD and executive partner of Designnord, a Danish design company, strongly emphasized how key elements of Taiwanese companies will allow it to progress from an OEM-based manufacturing to knowledge-based economy within the next five years, thereby giving Taiwanese companies an increased competitive edge in the global marketplace.

Put simply, "We offer creative solutions," said Rickmann.

Rickmann along with his Taipei representative, Judy Huang, knowledge director, MSc of Designnord, explained that this knowledge-based economy will allow companies to produce not only products at a competitive market-price, but also to help design and define a facet of what it means for a product to be

"Taiwanese," during the press conference last Thursday at the Bank Tower on Tun Hwa North Road in Taipei.
