Vietnam section of trans-Asia highway opened to traffic.

(SGT-HCMC) The Vietnam section of a road link with Cambodia and Thailand was opened to traffic on Saturday after three years of construction, making way for spurring growth and improving transport the Greater Mekong Sub-region.

The 80-km section from HCMC to Moc Bai Border Gate in Tay Ninh Province, which borders Cambodia, is part of the Trans-Asia Highway starting at the Thai capital of Bangkok to the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh and running to HCMC and Vung Tau in Vietnam.

Work on the HCMC-Vung Tau section is expected to be completed late this year.
