Health care stocks and the mutual funds that buy them have been among the leaders as the stock market tries to pull itself off the floor after a three-year bear market. Fund managers see the trend continuing in drug and biotech stocks.

The 176 health care funds tracked by Morningstar Inc. were up 4.91% for the year going into Monday. That compares with 1.83% for the average diversified fund.

Several industry groups in the medical field are among the better performers in IBD's rankings.

Medical-Generic Drugs was ranked first of IBD's 197 groups. It's up 27.1% for the year. The Medical-Biomed/Biotech group is ranked 18th, …
