The Mekong Delta region in southern Vietnam will pay greater attention to rice cultivation and aquaculture from now to 2010, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) announced at a recent conference to review the implementation of the restructure of local agriculture over the last two years.

The Delta, which has 2.79 million hectares of arable land, representing 32% of the country's total of 9.3 million hectares, is the largest region growing rice for export in Vietnam.
