2003 MAY 1 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Vernalis Group, plc, the U.K.-based developer of frovatriptan, announced that the results from a large multicenter study of frovatriptan in the prophylaxis (prevention) of menstrually associated migraine (MAM) were presented at the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting.
These findings confirm the positive results announced by the company in September 2002 and underline the potential value of this additional indication for frovatriptan.
These data from the study were presented to delegates by leading migraine expert Dr. Stephen Silberstein, professor of neurology at the Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was the first time the new phase IIIb data were presented to an international medical audience. The results indicated that frovatriptan was highly effective in preventing menstrually associated migraines when administered for 6 days during the perimenstrual period.
