An overview is presented of the chemical industry in Cataluna, Spain. Ingenieria Quimica carried out a survey of companies in the region, and respondents indicated that 50% achieved improved sales in 2002. Just 20% saw a decrease in sales. Exports rose by between 5-50% for 35% of respondents, and 25% maintained export volumes similar to that for 2001. The bulk of the exports were to the EU.
