IDC India has reported that AMD Far East (India) did not witness a bright in calendar 2002 when its market share fell to 7.6 percent from 12 percent in calendar 2001.
AMD, in the past few months, tied up partnerships to include all major customer segments. Its tie up with Tech Pacific in Sep 2002 resulted in a big breakthrough for the company's growth in sales. In the Oct- Nov-Dec 2002 quarter, AMD's sales recorded 247 percent growth to 63,705 units compared to 18,342 units sold in Jul-Aug-Sep 2002 quarter.
IDC India observes that the trend towards low cost personal computers would help AMD in gaining growth in sales.
