THE experts in the Ministry of Finance have all but signed the coroner's report - that the Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) 'be split down in the middle'. That would normally mean IF and CI, but they want to keep all 'good' in one and push the 'bad' into the second.

This sounds akin to what the mythical swan is said to be capable of - splitting milk and water from a solution provided by the milkman. Or, the idea is similar to the amputation of a gangrenous part to let the rest of the body live. While comparisons may be endless, there are questions to catch up with. Such as:
