Wellington, April 15 - Fears that a fire bug is on the loose in Levin are rising after an arson attack on Horowhenua College in the town early yesterday.

Police said that the arsonist bashed a hole in the external wall of a prefabricated classroom and probably ignited material placed inside.

Detective Constable Fiona Hutching said the building and some sports equipment were damaged, but the 2.45am fire failed to take a proper hold.

Fire safety officers were today continuing investigations into the incident.
