Three-quarters of the way through the year with our Jaguar X-Type, we still debate the car's lineage in the office. Our challenge has been to stop questioning its Jaguar-ness when in the car, and simply enjoy its attributes.
The third quarter was fairly uneventful, judging by the short, ho-hum logbook entries by the staff. There were no major trips, no adventures to report. The Jag simply operated as a work-a-day commuter for three months. Not a bad way to head into work each day.
We're not bored by the Jag, mind you, but we haven't been really inspired, either. The office debate has begun to include nominations of other vehicles in the $40,000 price range that might better stir our luxury sedan desires. Although the X-Type has some Jaguar cachet, some are struck that by adding only a few thousand more to the sticker price, a driver might stretch into the S-Type.
