May 1, 2006... Benvenuto was not the home of William Lyon Mackenzie, as you reported in March ["Mondo Condo," This City], but of Sir William Mackenzie, railway and electricity magnate. The sprawling stone mansion was built in 189 by Simeon Janes, developer of the Annex. He sold to Sir William in 1897.
