February 1, 2009... New England's largest dairy cooperative plans to phase out the use of rBST, according to Vermont Public Radio. Agri-Mark says it's taking a cue from its customers, who have rejected milk from hormone-treated cows. Starting in August, the co-op will no longer accept milk from cows injected...
Guggisberg takes Deutsch Kase Haus.(BRIEFLY ...)
February 1, 2009... Guggisberg Cheese of Millersburg, Ohio, has purchased Middlebury, Ind.-based Deutsch Kase Haus from Trega Foods, a subsidiary of Canadian dairy cooperative Agropur. The Middlebury plant will continue to operate under the Deutsch Kase Haus name.
Parmalat to expand Down Under?(BRIEFLY ...)
February 1, 2009... Parmalat mulling bid on Goodman Fielder dairy unit Italy's Parmalat is reportedly considering a bid for the dairy unit of Australia's Goodman Fielder. Australia is Parmalat's third-largest market, and Goodman Fielder is the country's largest food company by market value.
